Bucket list for turning 40....

That's right. I just told you my {upcoming} age. I'll be 40 in September!!!

sigh.

I've been thinkin' a lot lately about my age. About how I never thought I'd live to be 40 and how at age 20, 40 seemed so....old. It's not, I know, but it's a milestone that needs marked. I used to have a crazy dream....the same one over and over again from the time was a teenager until just recently. It was that I died in a car accident at age 42. Sad, but makes me feel like I need to celebrate my age and DO IT. Do life. Enjoy life. All that....

I struggled (that word should really be capitalized it was so bad) when I turned 30. Life changing struggle. I felt like the world was about to stop and all life as I knew it was going to completely end.

I know, the drama.

But it didn't. My kiddos were 9, 3 and 1.5 that year and we have not just survived, but thrived in the last 10 years. I met Jesus (and so did they - AMEN!). I moved two hours from my hometown which was so good for my healing. I met and married the greatest man on earth. They've grown (literally!) and I've grown. Period.

And so 40 will be here before I know it (in 193 days to be exact). I've made a list of a few of the things I want to do before my birthday. I reviewed my list from last year and could actually scratch a few more off that list too! Woot! Some of my new things I will do just because I am breathing and some I will have to force myself to do. Some will be easy, some hard. Either way, I'm a list kind a girl so just having an updated list makes me happy.

Fabulous 40 to do list:

1. Shoot a gun at a shooting range....
2. Drive a super cool car....
3. Learn to french braid.....again (this was a big one for me when I turned 30...I learned how to do it then promptly forgot...)....
4. Sit on a beach with my toes in the water for as long as I feel like it.... (and by beach I mean CONNECTED TO AN OCEAN, Mark. Gray's Lake does N.O.T. count!)....
5. Relax. Schedule less stuff and do more of nothing....
6. Send my baby to college....sniff, sniff
7. Get back in shape....
8. Take my family camping....overnight....in the woods....in a tent (this one makes me smile...some of my girls are NOT the outdoors type!)....
9. Find a charity that I am passionate about and pour myself in to it. LLS has been my charity of choice in the past, but I'm too "old" to run any more marathons....
10. Write a letter to my girls telling them how much they mean to me....

This list is a work in progress. Bet if I sat here long enough, I'd think of too many things to do!

Cheers to turning 40 and being happy about it!

What a GREAT idea! You have inspired me! I think I will start my own bucket list. Funny, you are giving up marathons, while I sit here contemplating one!!! Someday.
